Booking a PG is really simple and easy. Just like renting an apartment, PGs also require a few documents for verification and security purposes. Knowing what documents you need and having them handy can save a lot of your time and help you avoid last-minute stress. Here's a quick checklist:
ID Proof - The most important document is a government-approved ID. Usually, an Aadhaar Card, a Passport, a Voter ID, or a Driving License is accepted. ( And if you are below 18 or just turned 18 and don’t have your Voter ID and Driving Licence, then you can just use your Aadhaar card)
Address Proof - Some PGs ask for your permanent address proof for record purposes. Here, your Aadhaar Card or a passport would work.
College / Work ID - If you’re a student, your college ID card or admission letter may be required. For working professionals, a company ID or offer letter often works.
Photographs – Keep a few passport-sized photographs always ready. Many PGs still ask for them to attach to your application form.
Emergency contact details – It's not a document or something, but most of the PGs ask for these details in case of any emergency.
Rental Agreement - Some PGs provide an official rental agreement. In that case, you’ll just need to sign and keep a copy for yourself.
Tip – always double-check what’s included in your agreement, like rent, deposit, facilities, and notice period—so there are no surprises later.
